Purpose of the Program:

The Bachelor Degree of Physiotherapy qualifies individuals who apply a broad and coherent body of knowledge in a range of context of medical science in Physiotherapy to undertake clinical or research based professional work and as a pathway for advanced learning.

A. Cognitive (Knowledge):

Graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program will:
1. Demonstrate sufficient understanding of knowledge in Physiotherapy.
2. Be able to integrate theoretical knowledge with clinical assessment.
3. Develop the ability to collect history, perform relevant clinical assessment and frame appropriate electrotherapeutic and exercise therapy management for the patients.
4. Have a broad and coherent body of knowledge and understanding of Physiotherapy in relation to the assessment and treatment of people with movement and functional difficulties across the lifespan; that is, Paediatric, Adolescent, Adulthood and Geriatrics.
5. Have knowledge and skills related to leadership, ethics and professionalism, communication, collaboration, and education, as well as research, reflective practice, and self-directed learning, which are required for physiotherapy practice and life-long learning.
6. Have the required specialized knowledge and skills to be eligible for registration to practice as a Physiotherapist with the Maharashtra State Council Regulatory Authority

B. Skills:

Graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program will be able to demonstrate:
1. Clinical decision-making ability and provide appropriate patient care.
2. Skills to review, analyse, consolidate, and synthesise information provided from clients, health providers, research, and other sources in order to assess, diagnose, and treat clients in a holistic, effective and evidence-based manner
3. Cognitive and technical skills to assess and treat people with movement and functional difficulties, particularly in relation to disorders affecting the musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiovascular systems, but also in the promotion of health and wellbeing at all stages of life
4. Cognitive and creative skills to exercise critical thinking and judgment in planning and delivering client-centred physiotherapy assessments and treatments, applying research findings to clinical practice, and continually growing in physiotherapy knowledge and skills
5. Health promotion, education and improved quality of life through the practice of the profession.
6. Communication skills to clearly, accurately, and sensitively deliver information to clients and other stakeholders on how to enhance movement and function;
7. The ability to effectively discuss, make decisions, record actions and educate individuals and populations on options for treatment.
8. Carry out research and publications towards upliftment of the field of Physiotherapy.
9. Actively engage in lifelong self-directed learning activities.

C. Application of Knowledge & Skills (Affective Learning):

Graduates of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy program will demonstrate:
1. Initiative judgment in planning, problem solving and decision-making when providing physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice for individuals and populations, as well as when undertaking research and participating in quality improvement projects
2. Adaptability whilst providing holistic, client-centred and evidence-based care to clients with variable needs, values, and abilities, in a variety of health care settings (e.g. hospitals, community, private practice)
3. A commitment to lifelong learning by reflecting on current knowledge and skills in relation to client experiences and outcomes, as well as personal and career aspirations; regular review of research evidence and application of findings to clinical practice; pursuing and participating in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities in collaboration with others.
4. Willingness to participate in the School of Physiotherapy programs to update the knowledge and professional skills from time to time.
5. Participation and implementation of the National Health Programs
6. To possess at least minimum requisite skills to work effectively as a qualified Physiotherapist in various inter professional collaborative settings like hospitals, Rehabilitation Centres, Special Schools, Educational Institutions, Health and Fitness Centers, Geriatric Centers, Ergonomic Consultant in Corporate Sectors, Private Consultation, Home Care Services, Industrial Sectors, Sports Management, Fitness Consultant.

Psychomotor skills encompassing manual, fine motor, visual, auditory, and communication skills

Affective learning skills

1- Students will possess in-depth knowledge about the physiotherapy concepts related to basic medical concepts, therapeutic modalities, electrotherapy and special techniques.
2- Develop physiotherapy skills in diagnosing different conditions by assessing needs, developing plans, implementing Physiotherapy programs and follow up evaluation.
3-Capable of analyzing and evaluating information, making decisions, applying research methods, reasoning critically and solving problems in Physiotherapy practice
4- Capable of selecting strategies of cure and care; capable of adopting restorative and rehabilitative measures for achieving maximum possible independence of a client at home,
5- Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms work place and in the community of physiotherapy practice.
6- Ability to utilize communication skills for the purpose of employing suitable technique creatively at various stages of treatment, compatible with psychological state of the beneficiary
7- Apply information technology skills in research, documentation for evidence based and continued learning in Physiotherapy.
8- Capable of Promoting holistic health in following communities Geriatrics, Women’s Health, Industrial Therapy as well as in special population such as sports personnel in tandem with National Health Policies
9-Develop meta-cognitive (applied) awareness, attitudes and reflection skills in physiotherapy Practice.
