THREE DAYS RESEARCH METHODOLOGY WORKSHOP REPORT

DAY 1-
Dept. of Swasthavritta & Yoga in collaboration with Dept. of Sanskrit Samhita Sidhhant of D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University, School of Ayurveda had organized three days Research Methodology workshop at D. Y. Patil School of Ayurveda. Nerul, Navi Mumbai from 7 th August to 9 th August 2023.
On Day 1 – 7 th Aug.2023 an inaugural ceremony was graced by the presence of Resp. Dr. Vandana Mishra Madam, Vice Chancellor D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University, Nerul & Resp. Dr. Alka Kulkarni Madam, Registrar, D. Y. Patil Deemed to be University, Nerul & Dr. Mahesh Harit Sir, Dean, School of Ayurveda. All the guests at Inaugural Programme shared their valuable views & suggestions for the successful conduction of the workshop & also its successful use in research.
The workshop started with the very first lecture of Day 1 having the topic of discussion “Introduction to Research Methodology”. For sharing a detailed knowledge about what research methodology is we had our first guest speaker DR. Vinay Pawar (Associate Professor, Dept. of Sanskrit Samhita Sidhhant, D. Y. Patil School of Ayurveda and P. G. Co-ordinator).
Sir had conveyed their best to make students understand what Research methodology is before going ahead with its detailed knowledge in the next 3 days of this workshop to all the participants.
The 2nd lecture of Day 1was on the topic “Framing a research question & formulating hypothesis” & to enlighten on this topic we had our next guest speaker Dr. PradnyaKapse (Assistant Prof., Dept. of Shalyatantra, R. A. Podar Medical College (Ayu), Worli Mumbai). Madam had put a light on the first stepping point in research i.e. framing a research question. So, in the 1 st half session students acquired the basic but important about research.
The 3rd lecture of the Day 1 was having the topic “Effective Literature Search & Hands on training on literature search” by Dr. Vedvati Bhapkar (Assistant Prof. Dept. of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana). After framing a question the main part of research is nothing but literature search. Madam had explained our students how search can be effective along with its hands on training. This way 1 st half session was concluded at 1:00 pm.
The afternoon session started @ 2:00 pm post lunch. The next topic of discussion was “Protocol Writing “ & to give a experienced knowledge about the said topic we had our next guest speaker Dr. Sanjay Tamboli ( Director of Target Institute Of Medical Education & Research, Mumbai). Sir shared the knowledge about how to write a protocol along with their vast experience in the research world. This way Day 1 session were concluded at 4:30 pm.

DAY 2 – 8 TH AUGUST 2023
Day 2 commenced with the very first lecture with the topic “Various Study Designs” & to put a light on above topic we had our guest speaker Dr. Anant Patil (Associate Professor, Dept. of Pharmacology, D. Y. Patil School of Medicine, Nerul, Navi Mumbai). Sir had very clearly explained which are the different study designs for a research project to be started & how to decide a correct, non-biased study design for a research project.
2 nd lecture was on “Essential Analytical &Experimental techniques” by Dr. Aditi Kulkarni (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana R. A. Podar Medical College (Ayu), Worli Mumbai). Madam explained all the students all the required corners of the experimental techniques.
2nd half session of the Day 2 started at 2:00 pm. The topic of discussion was “Selection of Safety & Efficacy endpoints” to share their knowledge about the topic we had our next guest speaker Dr. Manohar Gundeti (Research officer at RRA Podar Central Ayurveda research institute, CCRAS, Worli, Mumbai) The next & last speaker of the day was Dr. Amrish Dedge (Research Officer atat RRA Podar Central Ayurveda research institute, CCRAS, Worli, Mumbai) to enlighten us onthe topic “ Reporting guidelines – CCRAS resources for Research Methodology”.
This way Day 2 was concluded at 4:15 pm.

Day 3 – 9th August 2023
The last day of the workshop was started with the topic “Critical Evaluation of a journal outside along with hands on training ’’. To enlighten students about this topic we had our guest speaker Dr. Vinay Pawar ( Asso. Prof. Dept. of Sanskrit Samhita Sidhhant, D. Y. Patil School of Ayurveda, PG coordinator). Sir explained that how an authentic article has to pass through so many editorial stages via experts i.e. nothing but Critical Evaluation.
The last lecture of the Day 3 of the workshop was on the topic “Descriptive Statistics”& to guide on this topic we had our guest speaker Dr. Namrata Nagwekar (Assistant professor, Dept of Statistics, Somaiya college of Science and Commerce, Vidyavihar, Mumbai). Madam explained about the basics of statistics along with its appropriate application in our research study/findings. After that we had our valedictory programme. Dr.Vinay Pawar, ( Asso. Prof. Dept. of Samhita Sidhhant, summarized the workshop report in briefly which was graced by Dr.Govind Reddy (Assistant Director (in charge) Ayu, RRAP CARI CCRAS, Worli, Mumbai. & Dr. Maheshkumar Harit sir Dean, School of Ayurveda. Our chief guest had put light on many research opportunities available in the field of Ayurveda & also motivated all the students & faculties to be a part of active & authentic research thereby giving many health advantages to the community in coming time.
First Year P. G. Students, Dr. Harshada Deshpande, Dr. Jyoti Birajdar and Dr. Pranali Dabhade expressed their views about this workshop.
Finally the vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Mangala Wange (Professor and Head, Dept. of Swasthavritta & Yoga) concluding the workshop.
