Harvard Scientist Visits DY Patil Deemed to be University

DY Patil Deemed to be University, School of Ayurvedaa, received an international faculty Dr. Shanmugamurthy Lakshmanan, PhD (Harvard University) on 28th June, 2016. Dr. Shan is the Vice President of international research, a scientific advisior and head of the usn Medicine, Sciences and Culture Division (IMSCD) at the World Institute for Scientific Exploration (WISE-Harvard University).

He is the Vice Chancellor for the Vetha Centre for Transdisciplinary studies incubated at New Jersey Institute of Technology in the US.

He has been rewarded Aryabhatt Award for his outstanding research in Ayurveda. Dr. Shan has accepted invitation by Dr. Vijay D. Patil, President of D Y Patil University to visit and share his insights.

He has visited D. Y. Patil Hospital, School Of Medicine & Ayurveda Hospital along with Mr. Stanley Underwood North III, Juris Doctor , an international Law expert & general council, Vetha Centre for Transdisciplinary studies at New Jersey, USA.

Further D Y Patil University School of Ayurvedaa & Vetha Centre for Transdisciplinary studies has signed an MOU & agreed to carry out faculty & student exchange programmes, online courses in Allied Health Sciences & collaborative transdisciplinary research activities in future.

They have primarily agreed to start research avtivity related to Ayurvedic Parasurgical procedures like Agnikarma (Heat Burn therapy) and Ayurvedic Nanotechnology and Fundamental Paradigm Shift experiments, etc.

This collaboration would be very beneficial in globalizing Ayurveda and draw the attention of westerners towards this ancient science of life.

This initiative was taken by Dr. Amarprakash Dwivedi, Vice Dean, D.Y.Patil University School of Ayurvedaa and he has been appointed as the academic head for research activities.

Dr. Shan also delivered a guest lecture on Ayurveda-Timeless : An ancient pedagogical approach that calls for Transdisciplinary Research. His lecture was thought provoking & inspiring for the faculty as well as students.

This event was a successful one due to active contributions from Mr. Vrundan Jadhav – Project Director of D.Y.Patil University, Dr. Mahesh Harit, Dean of Ayurveda College & Dr. Shirish Patil, Dean of D Y Patil School of Medicine.
