Students Cafe

A plush and massive dining space comprising of couches, bar stools and comfortable chairs, television screens, 24×7 food service, cuisines from around the world under one roof, healthy, wholesome and mouth-watering delicacies from around the world- this is the ambience that defines our very own Legends Cafe. Specifically designed to cater to the needs of students who reside on campus and study throughout the night as well as for those who wish to have some candid moments in college, Legends Cafe stands committed to serving all. The hotspot for all students to chill after lectures, the zone where students can revise while grabbing a bite- this cafe is the epitome of complete comfort and luxury. One of the most appreciated features of this cafe is its commitment to serve students round the clock.

All dishes are reasonably priced which makes our students prefer this cafe over any other fast food joint outside the university premises. This cafe has been the initiative of our college and is managed efficiently by a team of chefs and personnel along with students. Students who wish to take up part-time jobs and earn while studying are also given a chance to work at the Legends Cafe.




Virtual Class Room

From a blackboard to a smart projector screen, from a textbook to a tablet, from a classroom to a virtual classroom, education indeed has evolved a lot. At DY Patil Deemed to be University, the Virtual Classroom sets the perfect example of Education tech evolution wherein the online classroom allows students and faculty to communicate with one another, view presentations or videos, interact with other participants from across the globe, and engage with global talent and the subject experts in workgroups. Experts occupying prominent positions in the industry across the globe conduct lectures for our students that help minimize the geographic differences and make it digitally forward teaching and learning experience.

With a seating capacity of 100 students, this class provides students with a place to access live or recorded class sessions and participate face-to-face in high-quality audio and video conference along with multiple interactive whiteboards and also facilitate live classes, meetings, webinars, and conferences to audiences anywhere. The classroom is designed like a theatre with leveled seating to ensure an appropriate view of the front. It is equipped with the latest ICT technology, wireless microphones, and projectors along with LED screens.



Stadium

The DY Patil Sports Stadium is a cricket and football stadium at the DY Patil campus at Nerul. The stadium was officially inaugurated on 4 March 2008. The capacity of 45,000 makes it the ninth-largest cricket stadium in India. The stadium has been host to 2 IPL finals in 2008 and 2010. It has also been the home of the Mumbai City FC franchise in the ISL for the first two years (2014 & 2015). In 2017, the DY Patil Stadium was one of the venues for the FIFA U-17 World Cup, India’s first-ever FIFA tournament. After putting up an impressive performance, the stadium is now gearing to host the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2021. The stadium has also seen many world-famous artists like A.R. Rahman, Arijit Singh, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, DuaLipa and U2 enthrall the audience with their amazing performances.

The stadium makes use of bucket seats and cantilever roofs that eliminate the need for columns. A unique feature of the stadium is the cantilever roof, which eliminates the need for any support thus providing the spectators with an unobstructed view of the match from any place within the stand. In addition to that, a 500 KW solar plant was installed to take care of more than 70 percent of the electrical requirements of the stadium as an initiative to minimize the unfavorable environmental effect of the stadium. The DY Patil Stadium, thus, not only met but elevated global stadium standards



First aid Facility

First aid knowledge promotes the well-being of students on the campus and also makes one capable of managing accidents and illness. The First Aid kit with all accessories is kept in the ground floor administration office and also in all the food production laboratories at DY Patil Deemed to be University, School of Hospitality and Tourism studies in case of any injury or emergency. In case of severe injury, we have direct access to the D Y Patil Hospital just 3 minutes away from the college campus which has 1500 beds, a 100-bed ICU facility (the largest in Navi Mumbai), 15 operation theatres, and 24×7 charitable Casualty and Trauma center. It has a blood bank that is accredited by NABH. The school also conducts first aid training and fire safety training for the students annually to train them on how to handle the situation in such events and overcome the risks in the future



Hostel

The campus has a hostel facility for both boys and girls. All rooms are air-conditioned which provides a comfortable environment that is conducive to learning. Each room has been provided with an attached bathroom with essential furniture and fixtures (a table, chair, cupboard per student). The hostel has a 24-hour water supply, and continuous electricity back up. The rooms also contain a well-designed common room and well-placed water coolers. Support staff is provided for the students at the hostel. Security is a prime concern and we ensure that it is the last thing that parents and students would have to worry about. Trained and well-equipped security personnel are present guarding the premises at all hours. The students have the facility of an in-hostel 24-hour accessible cafeteria that provides affordable and scrumptious meals to all residents. The hostel also provides reasonably priced laundry services to the students.

The hostel is centrally located in the campus; meaning, all colleges and other basic needs in the university are available at short and convenient distances. A fully equipped hospital for all students is present in the campus if they ever feel under the weather at any stage during their stay here. All modes of transportation are easily available as the University is located close to the railway station and the highway.


Basic Training Kitchen

The basic training kitchen is fully equipped with modern kitchen appliances. This kitchen is used primarily to introduce the art of cookery to the students & it is launching pad for the new comers. Familiarity with the art & science of cooking is indeed is an essential part of hospitality operations.



Advance Training Kitchen

Having mastered with the basic, the students move on to specialization in the art of cooking. These kitchens which boost of state of the art equipment & hotel kitchen simulation. Elobarate dishes are prepared here. The cuisines under consideration are Japanese, Thai, and Mexican & Chimes. A well designed, well equipped and beautifully laid out infrastructure to cater to the international standards of the hospitality industry. This Advance Training Kitchen is specially designed to meet the needs of Japanese, Mexican, Thai and Chinese cuisine. Advanced equipments, required for the international preparations and the requirements of plating and showcasing the talent of food display are very well taught in this kitchen. This kitchen is meant for the final year students who are going to pass out and face the challenges of the hospitality world.




Quantity Training Kitchen

Bulk cooking is a specialized art and in order to develop the entrepreneurial skills of the hospitality professionals and to give them the confidence to meet the challenges of the competitive world, we have a Quantity Kitchen in place at the School of Hospitality & Tourism Studies which does the needful.
Well equipped with heavy-duty equipment, like pulvarizer, meat mincer, grinder, potato peeler, tilting pan, etc, we have everything that needs to bring out the entrepreneur in our students.



Culinary Kitchen

Being a chef is awesome. At present, cooking is more than just being confined to a traditional kitchen. It’s a high-flying career with a lot of challenges and rewarding opportunities. The College believes in training students and imparting quality education so that the students are well placed in the industry.
The College has well designed Culinary Kitchen to meet the Global Standards of education in Food Production practical’s. Culinary Kitchen is well equipped to provide training to students in wide range of International Cuisines. The kitchen has a well-designed marble top with in built induction range and ceiling mounted tilted demo mirror for the students to experience the live practical sessions as well. State of the Art Equipment’s required for international cuisines, requirements for Food plating and food display in the Culinary Kitchen prepare the students to face the challenges in the Hospitality world.



Studio Kitchen

DY Patil Deemed to be University, School of Hospitality and Tourism Studies believes in imparting hospitality education to the students and aims to shape graduates that are passionate, proficient, and ready to tackle tomorrow’s challenges head-on. With this purpose in mind, the infrastructure at the college is in keeping with the latest changes in the industry. Studio Kitchen is one of the well-designed kitchens planned to conduct live practical sessions for the students. Chefs, experts in their fields are invited to conduct demo sessions, so that the students stay up to date with the changes in the industry. Studio Kitchen is well equipped with modern equipments, induction ranges, presentation crockery and cutlery and all that is needed for live demo sessions. The Studio Kitchen has an added feature of ceiling mounted tilted demo mirror, due to which students when seated in the studio kitchen can actually see what is been demonstrated by the various Master Chefs on the range.




Food Media Lab

Equipped with the latest cameras, shooting equipment, a variety of lenses and all the other essential commodities for shooting and photography, the food media lab is our customised and unique centre for understanding and learning the science of food photography and all the other attributes of media related to culinary production, marketing and selling. A hit among students, The Food Media lab is a boon for our students as it teaches them how to market and sell their recipes. Food Media Lab is a recent addition to our infrastructure.



It is one of the initiatives of the college to keep itself abreast with the technological changes in the industry and to track down all the emerging trends. With the explosion of social networking and the spread of digitalization across the globe, the realm of culinary has also undergone a massive change. Social networking sites are flooded with videos on making a plethora of dishes from different cuisines across the world. Along with this has emerged the trend of food blogging, food reviewing, etc. All these require professionally captured photographs of delicacies in order to make them more lucrative and appealing. This is exactly what our students are trained in during their Food Media practical sessions.




Bakery 1

There is a mystery in the way that simple ingredients – flour, water, yeast, salt, sugar – are transformed into bread or cake. But the process need not be mystifying. It is easy when you understand why. Revealing the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of bakery and confectionery and giving a hands-on experience, is the essence of this course. It engages beginners, enthusiasts and culinary professionals alike in a fascinating journey of culinary delights. Its uniqueness lies in the hands-on experience it offers to the student to excel in the different avenues of this exciting world of baking. We welcome you to embark on this delightful and savoury culinary journey.



Bakery 2

Once you learn the basics of bakery and pastry, you need to start accepting challenges about bulk production, FIFO & hygiene. We welcome to this bakery, to polish your basic knowledge, with the best chefs and best equipment.
This bakery kitchen consists of two rooms;
1) Bakery section or oven room
2) Pastry section or chocolate room
All students learn how to make different varieties of bread as well as international bread, lots of variety of desserts, and the best part, chocolates and its garnishes. Here we train the students for the industry. As we have the best infrastructure, we organize many events in the campus. We teach students for bulk preparation, how to maintain the store perfectly, as per SOP. Each student gets bundle of knowledge.



Bakery 3

Bakery and Patisserie basic and intermediate training rooms are situated on the first floor of the building and the advance training rooms are situated on the third floor. All the labs are well equipped with working tables, ovens, refrigerators, planetary mixers, and all kinds of equipment used for Bakery and Pastry making. Students gain hands-on experience creating a variety of baked goods and desserts. Some classes also cover the basics of the scientific and chemical processes involved when combining ingredients and preparing desserts or other baked goods. Here are a few common concepts found in pastry and baking classes:
1) Basic techniques
2) Sanitation
3) Mixing and production
4) Design and decorating
Courses for students include instruction in many techniques and methods like baking cakes, making pastry, desserts, and preparing bread. Students learn how dairy, fruits, flour, and chocolate come into play with pastry and baking. The fundamentals of dough and basic decorating skills are covered, and this pastry and baking class also introduces students to baking equipment and baking costs. Introductory pastry and baking classes provide students with an understanding of the ingredients and methods used in creating bread, pastries, cookies, and other desserts.



Basic Training Restaurant

For a layman, a restaurant can be understood as a well-designed, consumer-friendly place where people sit and order food which is served to them by a waiter or a waitress. The Basic Training Restaurant is one of the unique features of our college. It is a proper restaurant equipped with all the cutlery, trolleys and equipment of a luxurious restaurant. The restaurant is laid out to perfection and is the site where students are introduced to the versatile subject of Food & Beverage Service. With a capacity of over 60 covers, this restaurant entices the students and captivates them into the aura of the hotel industry.
The practical sessions of F&B service are conducted in this restaurant and students are extensively trained in table service, napkin folds, American service, silver service etc.


In this restaurant, the students also handle various types of cutlery and learn its specific usages. They also learn the art of pairing cutlery together and are familiarised with the basics of guest service. This restaurant, with its pristine appeal and magnificent aura, bewitches the students who instantly get attracted towards this dynamic attribute of hospitality.



Advanced Training Restaurant

college introduces them to our Advanced Training Restaurant. A splendid restaurant of more than 60 covers spread across a large dining space with buffet set up on the periphery flanked by an eye-catching magnificent bar, this restaurant resembles the dream set up of every restaurateur. The cosy lighting of the bar, as well as the restaurant along with designer curtains, add to its charm. In this restaurant, students are trained in buffet service as well as in handling the service of drinks and food together. It deals with the most complicated and challenging aspects of Food & Beverage Service in which the students receive comprehensive training. This training provides finishing touches to their already acquired skills of guest service and makes them ready to take on the industry with full vigour and confidence.



Bar & Wine Training Restaurant

Service of drinks forms an integral part of the Food and Beverage Service. As students familiarise themselves with the basics of hospitality service, they are introduced to one of the most lucrative aspects of the industry i.e. handling the bar and carrying out wine service. For this purpose, our college has designed a unique and fully equipped bar space. Endowed with a proper bar counter, different styles of arranging cutlery, and a layout of more than 50 covers, this restaurant resonates and to some extent even defeats the bar and wine restaurant of any plush hotel. With its exquisite interiors, designer covers, splendid layout, and intensive display of liqueurs from around the world, this restaurant gives us an edge over all the other hotel management institutes of the country.


This restaurant also trains students in different varieties of wines, the standard tastes, and preferences of people based on their geographical location, the food with which the wines can be paired, and so on.





Front Office Lab

The Front office lab with a well decorated lobby, reception area & lounge is the first line of contact with the guest. In this lab the students are trained for receiving information, billing, guest registration & guest relations. In addition, the emphasis is on communication skills, social skills, oratory skills, & handling different types of situations.




Housekeeping Lab

The housekeeping lab is equipped with the most modern equipments& guest supplies, chemicals, adhesives, linens etc required for accommodation for up keeping & other related jobs. The institute accommodation facility comprises of ten model guest rooms & three suites where students get hands on experience in operation & management of guest rooms.



Computer Lab

The contemporary global scenario is dominated by the percolation of digitalisation. Every task that was earlier done manually is now performed through machines. A computer is one such machine, whose knowledge and functioning has become vital for our functioning and existence. The college provides intensive training in computer operations and its applications to all the students. The Computer Laboratories of the college are equipped with more than a hundred computers of latest configuration. Through these computers, students learn the various operational softwares as well as other necessary operations of the computer. The students are also trained in operating softwares specifically concerning the Hospitality and Tourism industry.
