Student Facility

The School of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics is a well maintained 12 storied building with adequate infrastructure for conducting theory and practical sessions. The building houses 15 well-furnished, well ventilated spacious classrooms, 3 tutorial rooms, 1 Drawing Hall and 1 Seminar hall as per AICTE recommendations for the teaching learning process. All the classes are equipped with LCD Projectors. The seminar hall is air conditioned with a seating capacity of 140 and is majorly used for conducting conferences, seminars and workshops for students and faculty members. It is equipped with LCD Projectors, white boards, public addressing system and high-speed internet connectivity. There are 27 well equipped laboratories, a workshop, 2 computer labs and an animal house for carrying out curriculum-oriented lab practicals and to carry out research activities in Biotechnology, Food technology and Biomedical engineering. The computer center and computer labs have an adequate number of computers with 1:1 student to computer ratio and high-speed internet. The computer lab is firewall protected and has several commercial licensed software. The facility is adequate for carrying out Bioinformatics research. The school houses a spacious library, with an adequate number of books, reference books and volumes; subscription to various online journals and hard-copy journals.

Central Instrumentation Laboratory

The School has established a Central Instrumentation Laboratory to facilitate research as well as routine practical. The laboratory harbors state of the art indigenous and imported analytical instruments like

Sorval C90 Ultracentrifuge: used here for the Isolation of subcellular organelles and macromolecules.
Waters Gradient High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC): Used here for analysis of antioxidants and antimicrobial molecules from plant extracts.
Chemito Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS): Used here for estimation of heavy metals from water bodies and industrial effluents.
Chemito Gas Chromatography (GC): Used here for quantification of pesticide residues from fruits, vegetables, grains and processed food products.
Super Hit Rotary Vacuum Digital Bath: Used here for concentrating bio active compounds from various plant extracts. Bio-Rad Microplate reader: Used here for cell proliferation studies and immunological assays like ELISA.
UV Visible Spectrophotometer: Used here for various biochemical assays such as quantification of macromolecules.
Bio-Rad Biologic DuoFlow System: Used here to separate and purify protein and other polymers from complex systems
Promega DNA/RNA/Protein Isolation System: Used for DNA/RNA isolation and protein extraction and purification.
Syngene Gel Documentation Unit: Used for documentation and analysis of protein and nucleic acid gels
Therrmocycler: Used for the amplification of gene Other equipment in the central Instrumentation facility include: Microprocessor based Cold Chamber, Deep Freezer(-60o C, -20o C), Laminar Flow, Ultra filtration unit etc.

Sports Facility and Gymnasium

The school possesses adequate facilities to promote sports activities both in the indoor and outdoor levels among the students. The outdoor sport facility at the University main campus includes Cricket, football, dodgeball, basketball and volleyball. While the indoor sport facility on campus includes table tennis, chess, and carrom. The school has sufficient sport equipment and elements to fulfill the students requirements primarily to motivate their active participation in all sporting events conducted at the college level as well as at the national competitions. The school has a well-versed Gymnasium in the premises that comprises sophisticated gym facilities with all essential modern equipment, including the treadmill encouraging students to indulge in exercise activity on a routine basis. To name a few of our gym equipment includes shoulder press, power rack, bench weight machine, and chest press machine.
