ABSTRACT: Use of smoked and smokeless tobacco products is common worldwide, with increasing consumption in many countries. Smokeless tobacco products are a major source of carcinogenic nitrosamines and are associated with head and neck cancers. While smoking of tobacco is associated with lung cancers. Animal carcinogenicity studies strongly support clinical results. Cancer risk of smokeless tobacco users is probably lower than that of smokers, but higher than that of non-tobacco users. In addition to cancer there are several health effects of smoked tobacco which were discussed during presentation.
