IDA Training Camp attended by Staff and Interns

Training Camp for Screening of Oral Cancer
A training camp for screening individuals with a high risk of oral cancer was conducted by IDA and its partners. The staff Dr. Siddharth Acharya and interns: Faiza Sayyad, Abhishek Lamkhade, MaitreyaBapat, and Arshya Gandhi (Department of Public Health Dentistry) participated in the camp.
The objectives of the camp were to train the interns to create awareness on oral cancer and conduct screening and early detection to reduce the mortality rate due to oral cancer in such a way that they can be able to screen the most vulnerable groups and provide the detected ones with investigations followed by treatment at nearby locations.
During the training, Dr.Dhoble sir Hon Sec Gen.IDA HO has briefed the session explaining how dental colleges can support and create meaningful impact., Dr. Kunal Oswal, explained the MOCC project how the project will cover end to end High-risk group free oral cancer screening with the support of the dental college team, Dr.Ruma – explained about the collection of saliva and buccal smear and the need for biosample and. Dr. Yash Mathur -Head oncology surgeon briefed minute aspect of Oral cancer screening leukoplakia precancerous lesion and biopsy.
The camp was held on 13 November 2021 at the IDA office 2nd floor of Dr APJ Centre, Sane Guruji Premises, opposite Siddhivinayak temple, Dadar West, Mumbai between 10 a.m to 5 p.m.The Department of Public Health Dentistry would like to take this opportunity to thank Dean sir, Dr. Gaurang Mistry for guiding us from inception to completion of the camp.
