DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF FACULTIES

A) ACADEMIC STAFF

● To Prepare the Academic Calendar in coordination with all faculty members before commencement of academic year.
● To review, advise on and develop policies for learning, teaching and learning quality.
● To review and formulate policies to enhance students’ learning motivation.
● To introduce and promoting different teaching methods.
● To set up academic reward systems.
● To promote academic activities and create an atmosphere of learning.
● To record student’s personal data and other learning experience records. systematically to help students pursue further studies or develop their career.
● To enhance teachers’ development through holding different professional development activities.
● To enhance the teaching efficiency through perfecting the appraisal system.
● To conduct meetings for syllabus distribution amongst the faculty.

1. Knowledge of the Subject
• To have expert knowledge of the subject area
• To pursue relevant opportunities to grow professionally and keep up-to-date about the current knowledge and research in the subject area
2. Teaching
• To plan and prepare appropriately the assigned courses and lectures
• To conduct assigned classes at the scheduled times
• To demonstrate competence in classroom instruction
• To implement the designated curriculum completely and in due time
• To plan and implement effective classroom management practices
• To design and implement effective strategies to develop self-responsible/independent learners
• To promote students’ intrinsic motivation by providing meaningful and progressively challenging learning experiences which include, but are not limited to: self-exploration, questioning, making choices, setting goals, planning and organizing, implementing, self-evaluating and demonstrating initiative in tasks and projects
• To engage students in active, hands-on, creative problem-based learning
• To provide opportunities for students to access and use current technology, resources and information to solve problems
• To provides opportunities for students to apply and practice what is learned
• To engage students in creative thinking and integrated or interdisciplinary learning experiences
• To build students’ ability to work collaboratively with others
• To adapt instruction/support to students’ differences in development, learning styles, strengths and needs
• To vary instructional roles (e.g. instructor, coach, facilitator, co-learner, audience) in relation to content and purpose of instruction and students’ needs

3. Assessment
• To define and communicate learning expectations to students
• To apply appropriate multiple assessment tools and strategies to evaluate and promote the continuous intellectual development of the students
• To assign reasonable assignments and homework to students as per university rules
• To evaluate students’ performances in an objective, fair and timely manner
• To record and report timely the results of quizzes, assignments, mid- and final semester exams
• To use student assessment data to guide changes in instruction and practice, and to improve student learning
4. Professionalism
• To be punctual and be available in the university during official working hours
• To comply with policies, standards, rules, regulations and procedures of the university
• To prepare and maintain course files
• To take precautions to protect university records, equipment, materials, and facilities
• To participate responsibly in university improvement initiatives
• To attend and participate in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to university policy
• To demonstrate timeliness and attendance for assigned responsibilities
• To work collaboratively with other professionals and staff
• To participate in partnerships with other members of the university’s community to support student learning and university-related activities
• To demonstrate the ability to perform teaching or other responsibilities, including good work habits, reliability, punctuality and follow-through on commitments
• To provide and accept evaluative feedback in a professional manner
• To create and maintain a positive and safe learning environment
• To carry out any other related duties assigned by the department director

i) DEAN / DIRECTOR
The duties & responsibilities of dean/director are –
• to provide academic leadership to support and ensure student success.
• To develop and maintain effective communication within their respective college, with personnel across campus, with students, and with external community faculty.
• To coordinate the activities of department heads so that clearly-defined goals related to program improvement, recruitment and retention, and student learning outcomes may be achieved.
• The dean is responsible for upholding University policies and procedures, respective accrediting agency requirements, evaluation of programs, and evaluation of faculty performance.
• Promotes the use of the self-Appraisal, and ensures its effective implementation among the department

ii) PROFESSORS
The duties & responsibilities of professors are –
• Teaching classes at the undergraduate and postgraduate level
• Supervising Undergraduate and postgraduate Research Projects
• Being a Ph.D advisor/mentor/guide for a student. This involves guiding the students' research, helping them with their work.
• Designing new courses at the undergraduate or postgraduate levels, and updating the curriculum requirements for various degrees via board of studies.
• Conducting value added courses and writing letters of recommendation for students.
• Bringing speakers to campus to guide students about job or research opportunities.
• Creating new degree programs or options within degree programs.
• Doing university paperwork related to research and various other requirements as per inspection.

iii) ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS
The duties & responsibilities of associate professor are –
• They are responsible for overall academic development.
• The development of programme and module proposals, including providing feedback about students, faculty and alumina.
• The preparation of documentation and materials for formal approval Academic Committee and/or AQAC either directly or through the work of a formal validation panel or working group.
• Maintains a watching on the matters arising from external examiner reports, student evaluations; feedback and the minutes of various committees, and analysis of performance data
• Maintains an overview of faculty external examiner appointments
• Promotes the development and enhancement of teaching, learning and assessment across the faculty
• Contributes to internal university audits and purchases on behalf of institute.
• Works with staff across the faculty and university to ensure that existing systems provide materials and information necessary to meet the requirements of external agencies or bodies like e.g. Internal Quality Assurance committees or Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies like state council.
• Supervising Undergraduate and postgraduate Research Projects
• Maintains the data recordings of various committees like feedback, BOS, clinical patient record, etc.

iv) ASSISTANT PROFESSORS
The duties &responsibilities of assistant professor are –
• Clinical Teaching & training of Undergraduate Physiotherapy students including Interns/ Postgraduate students so as to achieve the Educational Objectives i.e. to develop their knowledge, skills & attitude.
• To ASSIST THE ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS / PROFESSORS / HEADS OF THE DEPARTMENT to do periodic evaluation / assessment of Undergraduate / Postgraduate students by conducting their internal (College) examination / maintaining the attendance & academic record of individual student.
• To participate in teaching programmes like Lectures / Tutorials/Group Discussions/ Ward Clinics-Demonstrations/ Practicals and other academic activities like Seminars / Symposia / Panel Discussions / Workshops / Guest Lectures / Conferences / Continuing Medical Education Programmes etc.
• To work on various Students’ Welfare-related Committees like “Anti-Ragging Committee” and to enforce discipline among medical students.
• To make Daily Rounds of all the cases and treat patients admitted under his/her postings in ICUs, IPD & OPD setup of hospital.
