DY Patil Deemed to be University- School of Dentistry, Navi Mumbai, which is very well known for providing high quality dental care at affordable prices recently launched a ‘Premium Plus Dental Wellness Centre’. The inauguration was done on 5 th July, 2022, at the hands of Dr. Vijay D. Patil (Chancellor and President, DY Patil University) and Mrs. Shivani V. Patil (Managing trustee and President, DY Patil Sports Academy) along with Dr. C.S. Thammaiah, Vice Chancellor and Dr. Gaurang Mistry, the Dean of Dental College. The ‘Premium Plus Dental Wellness Centre’ is first of its kind premium plus dental clinic designed to deliver express treatment at affordable charges with care, compassion and cure; giving socio-economic benefit to people of Navi Mumbai. The wellness centre, located on the ground floor of the building, consists of one of the finest dental facilities with latest equipment and top-class infrastructure. Treatment in this centre will be provided by specialists in the different branches of dentistry. This facility will be open for the masses from 8am to 8pm.

In addition to the premium plus clinic, the institute also launched two state-of- the-art facilities; one being the latest conscious sedation units and the other being ‘Pet Therapy’ in the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry. The conscious sedation units are designed to provide nitrous oxide sedation (laughing gas) to the patients by trained expert pediatric dentists in order to facilitate smooth and pain free dental treatment. This will benefit in alleviating dental anxiety in children as well as help in management of special children who may not be able to cooperate during routine dental treatment. ‘Pet Therapy’ is the use of domesticated pets like dogs, cats, guinea pigs; with dogs being the most commonly used for reducing anxiety associated with dental treatment. The Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry, DY Patil Dental College, Navi Mumbai is the only department in India with this facility.

Another advanced treatment facility launched was the ‘Clear Aligners’ scanning and treatment facility in the Department of Orthodontics. The ‘Clear Aligner’ scanner and treatment facility was launched in association with Illusion aligners. This is one of the latest technologies for straightening crooked teeth (orthodontic treatment) in a comfortable and esthetic manner. This facility, like all other facilities in the institute, will be provided at affordable charges to the masses.
