A two days’workshop on “Critical care unit equipment & procedures” was held inPushpanjali Auditorium, D.Y. Patil Hospital,on 16th and 20th December 2019.There werearound 125participants including the second and third year B. B Sc students, First year P.B.B. Sc students and both the batches of post graduate students.
The workshop started as a half-day session, post lunch on 16th December with lamp lighting and prayer song followed bywelcome address by Ms. Deepa Reddy, Program Coordinator.
Day 1
The session started by 1:00 pm. The first sessions of the workshop were delivered by Prof. Dr. Rita Lakhani, (Principal, D.Y.P.U.S.O.N) who dealt on the topic “Classification, Principles, Policy and Protocols of Critical Care Unit”.
The other topics covered were Organization, Physical set up and staffing norms, ET intubation, Et Suctioning (open and closed), Tracheostomy insertion, Tracheostomy care, Crash Cart and Infection control in CCU. Delegates listened enthusiastically and departed by 5:00pm after the last session.

On 20th December 2019 the second day of workshopsession started with Lamp lighting by the Principal, Vice principal, Program Coordinator and 3 representatives from the delegates.
During the session the following topics were covered – Pulse oximeter, Infusion & syringe pump, Cardiac Monitor Overview, PAP (invasive &non-invasive), CVP (IV & non-IV),IBP (IV & non-IV), Defibrillation & Cardioversion.
The session ended by 12:30 pm after the vote of thanks by Prof. MankumariMistry,Vice Principal, D.Y.P.S.O.N and feedback from the participants. The student delegates expressed their gratitude to the faculty for conducting such session.
